This is one of my favorite childhood books. For some reason, I could read it for hours and hours, escaping into the world of Anne, Diana, Murilla, Matthew and Miss Stacey.
This afternoon, the local PBS station has been showing the series, one episode after another.
I've sat here transfixed, hour after hour, watching each one.

The Velveteen Rabbit is one of my all time favorites. I adore Anne of Green Gables, too...nice choice

The tailor from Gloucester was a favorite of mine and the Cat in the hat wich my mom would read to me every night.(Chani, I watched Anne of Green Gables so often, I wore the videotape down to a shredded pulp. ReplyDeleteI loved Dr Seus. When I started reading on my own, though, I loved all the 'Ramona' books by Beverly Cleary and my second favorite were books by Judy Blume.
ReplyDeleteThese are great stories, and the series was quite wonderful except for the very last one set in WWI. We have watched them any number of times. We've been to the house in PEI. AS for what I read as a kid -- The Bobbsey Twins were the start of it all, then the Hardy Boys and so on.

My favorite childhood book was Frederick by Leo Lionni. I guess it was a lot of people's favorite- the post office put it on a stamp last year.

Doctor Seus was always my favorite. My son loved them too, but his favorite book as a small child was "Goodnight Moon". In fact, I read it to him so much that his first word was moon.
