Contact....

"You're an interesting species, an interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable is each other."

"Contact" - movie 1997

  1. sometimes, it's lonely being with others, because we're unable to "connect" with the ones we're with. perhaps that's where we're going wrong? We're not recognizing that each being has a kernel of the divine, and that is our connection.

  2. I love what SB said! I've been reading a lot about near death experiences, and one thing that always strikes me is that people who "come back from the other side" often say their experience elucidated the fact that every one of us has a sliver of the Great Light within us, and this is what connects us at the core.

I just watched that again recently! Such a good movie! Of course, Matthew McConnaughy isn't hard on the eyes either!

  8. Loved the movie. And yes, we are an interesting species, full of contradictions. We could be really great if we would stop obstructing our own progress.

  11. An all time favorite movie: the ending scenes totally validated my understanding of reality.

And ya know, they should've sent a poet. Ellie Arroway was right. (wink)

  12. Three such beautiful and gentle posts.

I thought about what you said in your comment - I always had other people looking after me. It is only recently - after beating a drug addiction with which I almost killed me - that I started becoming looking out for myself. After all the things I put myself through when I was younger, I always feel a bit of fear going into a stressful period - will I make it this time?

  16. This movie touched me on so many levels.
It actually helped me have "faith".

  18. Contact and touch are so important. Without it, I know that I become cranky and isolate myself. The more I stand alone the more miserable I get, the more no one wants to be around me. With touch and love, I am as warm and friendly as a golden retriver puppy!
