Out of the abyss and back to my computer room.....

First, I truly want to thank everyone who left comments for me yesterday and even those who may have read without leaving a comment. I appreciate it more than any of you know. Now onto other topics:

Actually, I removed the entry. It was a total dud! It was so boring, it bored even me, and apparently wasn't too exciting to others either so it's gone. That's just the way it goes sometimes. None of us can be scintillating every day. This was my day to bomb! LOL

Instead, I'll just put a quick note here to wish everyone a very peaceful evening. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

Peace everyone :)

I don't think I'd hire someone through a job clearinghouse, just because I like to meet people and get a feel for them before committing to spending time with them. Lots of people look good on paper but aren't really very enjoyable to be around, and vice versa.

But I do understand about just not being cut out for this culture and economy. And the questions asked in usual job interviews are meaningless, insulting and idiotic, I agree. Especially the "why should we hire you" type of question or the "convince me to give you this job" sort of thing, which to me seems incredibly compromising and demeaning.

I've had stupid question like that. It's all a charade.

Marian, I agree that those questions are demeaning and compromising. It is like asking someone to beg. Just doesn't sit right with me. And, yeah, you're right. I'm really not cut out for this culture and economy.

Jen, I sometimes think about what it would be like if everyone just stopped going along with it. Let employers beg for workers. That should happen sometime in the near future, eh? LOL

Brenda, geez! Send ya to school and buy ya books, and ya just chew the pages. LOL

Anvil, I remember being asked some of those questins. Truly, I wouldn't even try. I'd just say "I can not answer that. I don't know." Needless to say, I didn't get a lot of jobs. (laugh)

Peace,

I love your answers. *smile*

I think the hiring process would depend on the field. In medicine, there's no way we would hire a doctor without interviewing them, getting a feel for their interpersonal skills, communication skills and professionalism. You can't always tell from a resume or cover letter.

Maybe for very task-oriented positions, the clearinghouse would cut out a lot of the unnecessary bullsh*t. (*thinking* unnecessary bullsh*t is an oxymoron)

Hi Chani: That was a powerful and courageous post yesterday. Believe me you are not alone and I'm sure it will help others to read that.
I detect a little humor when you wrote about being bored by your own post !! I know that feeling & have thrown out a bunch of posts that just seemed to be filling up space and not saying anything of interest. Keep writing...I love to read what you have to say & to get your great comments. Hugs.

boring? pffft. not at all.

chani, it would be impossible.

KC, I agree with you, particularly what you say about task-oriented v. people-oriented jobs. Most people would not want to deal with "Dr. House". However, most jobs really are task-oriented. I remember too much days past when someone wouldn't get a job because of skin color or sexual orientation. Now the socially acceptable prejudice involves introversion or extroversion. That's really my core complaint, I think. :)

Ginnie, thank you.. :) Yes, that was humor. My inner editor recognizes a bomb when it sees one. It's fairly evident when something is laying on the table, quivering and gasping for breath. LOL

Jen... thank you. As always.

Peace to all -
