A relaxation break....

~*

Just another relaxation break. I don't have anything burning inside to write about so thought I'd offer some pretty pictures and an old poem. Hope everyone enjoys. :)

~*

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

-Robert Frost

you certainly strike me as one who takes the road less traveled by

that last picture...mmmmmmmm.

Do you get paid by the Thailand government for plugging it so much?

bravely said, anonymous, but in this case, i think it's the estate of Robert Frost that paid chani.

Anyway, i love this poem. Thanks for the opportunity to "hear" it again.

One of my favorite poems. I can see why you would love it, too.

Anonymous,

Why do you come here if the content offends you?

Perhaps if you had a passion for something, too, you would understand better.

I love these pictures- I want to be there.

Oh, Elizabeth, that IS you.

You really should create a blog so you can present your views more fully. They tend to have more legitimacy when you have your own site.

Serious question: Why do you hate Thailand so much? Other countries also have appalling sexual practices, including the US.

What country are you from?

one of my favorites from my youth, but i so love the twist you played on it with those photos.

oh, and I just read an article that said that the west is responsible for utilizing the child sex trade in SE Asia. Almost all the business comes from Europe and the West. if not for the demand, i wonder if there would be supply born out of intense poverty and desperation.

And Meno, you cracked me right up.

1--this is a classic poem that never gets old for me.
2--i want to LIVE in that awesome waterfall!!
3--so much weird negativity on such a beautiful post and lovely blog. for shame, anonymous. Chani is loved here, so shoo. for good.

Chani,

How ironic that you called this post "A Relaxation Break."

ironic, indeed, heartSF.

love you, friend.

Please don't feed the troll!

If you happen to come by and see any ugly comments from "Anonymous", please ignore them.

I just deleted a bunch of it.. and may not see the site again until tomorrow morning.

:)

Thanks for the nice messages, HeartSF, Jen and Christine. I am very grateful!

No kidding about the irony! I'll be more careful when I name my posts. LOL

Peace,

It's a beautiful poem I like to read over and over again ...

... and beautiful are the pictures and Thailand, no matter who says what, and btw. so are you!

Flutter, it is.. isn't it? :)

De, neither do I. It really says so much in so few words. Ordinarily, I don't care for poetry.. but occasionally.. :)

~*

Maypole, yes... that I am :)

~*

SM, I wish I could live in a little cabin.. right near that waterfall! Can you imagine????

~*

Anonymous, of course I get paid. They just keep forgetting to send the checks.

Darn Thai banking system, being what it is.. and all.

~*

Meno, LOL!!

~*

Susan, the poem just makes so much good sense to me. That outsider thing, you know?

~*

KC, me, too! By this afternoon would be good. :)

~*

Jen, that's very true... about SEA. Most westerners just don't want to look at it that way.

And, just like anywhere, there are some rotten people in Thailand.

You know. Real life. And all that. :)

~*

Christine, I would truly, truly, love to live there!

~*

Mitzh, thanks. :) Every now and then, it's just nice to see something beautiful with no heavy content. :)

~*

Desertpea, thanks. I am biased. Of course, I think Thailand is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

I wish I was there right now. :)

That last bit-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

That never fails to give me chills and has inspired me since I first read and understood this piece in high school.

Julie, thanks. :) Something pleasant to look at and read is important every now and then.

U-U, same here. It stuck with me.. and may be partly responsible for my definite separation from the mainstream. :)
