So I sit here on Friday afternoon with absolutely nothing to say!
OJ is a jerk. Yep. Nosy pharmacists suck. Yep. Comments good. Yep. Doctors who solve problems. Good.
And I am utterly bored with my own thoughts, my own perspectives... and the me-ness that permeates this space.
So here's an experiment. It might work. It might flop. Only a day or two will tell.
Say something.
About anything.
I'll be on and off all weekend. I will type back to you.
This could be fun. Or this could be the most hare-brained idea I've ever had... but...
We'll see...
Good weekend all :)

Something about anything.
So what if it's a hare-brained idea? Sometimes the best results come from hare-brained ideas.
Of course, this morning my cat left me most of a dead bunny at the doorstep, so maybe hares aren't the right image right now.
How's your puppy?
I'm sitting here pondering what Ben just said to me about his relationship with Jack (after the two spent the afternoon fighting with each other):
"Jack and I, we're natural enemies."
And I'm wondering whether that has to be so. And if that's the case, how heartbreaking. Oh, I know that as adults they may be close; but I'm not interested in then, just NOW.
So I'm feeling dispirited on this Friday early evening and disappointed that it seems so tough for us, imperfect humans that we are, to get along with each other.
Read something. Cook something. Make something. Your mind needs to recharge.
I am also at a loss and very much want to write something to bury the "nice award" post, which although very um, nice, sort of mortifies me. And I can't think of anything to write about.
I think I'll go eat worms.
Cecilieaux, you crack me up! LOL
~*
Meno, probably not the optimum example, eh? When I used to have a cat (Siamese, of course.. no, I'm not joking), she would never leave anything at the doorstep. She was too good for that sort of thing, ya know!
Puppy's good. Doesn't bark too much. Never craps on the floor. We're good. :)
~*
SM, you know what that makes me wonder.. because my mind always goes here first: Is this some sort of socialization process that is going on in school? Somehow convincing Jack and Ben that they have to compete instead of cooperate?
It doesn't *have* to be that way.. but fighting the entire western worldview might be awfully dang hard!
~*
Susan, how about you write about the best book you've read lately? Not only will it bury the "nice award" but you'll also give us an idea on what to get next. :)
The well is empty where I'm concerned.. when it comes to blog posts.
Only just so many times I can say "Western culture. Boo. Thai culture. Yay! Here's why." I'm even boring myself.

:)

i got nothing... which is why I don't have a post myself up today. Oh.. that and I'm still working on your hard hitting interview questions. I'm getting there... I promise. ;) maybe later tonight? or not. We'll see. Depends on whether Hubby is up for a Heroes marathon or not.
Cheese.
That is usually the first word that pops into my head.
What kind of cheese do you like?
Cheers!

Oh, while I'm here..
I said a while ago it would be good to see a week of precepts - the five precepts posts. Yet the precepts never came to me as a surprise. If you're all out of blogging ideas, maybe you could do that next week? ;)

what purpose does a grapefruit serve that other citrus fruits cannot?
How is it that I can like everyone else so much and dislike myself so much?
Jen, what I'd like to know is why grapefruit are $2.00 each. I'm not buying them because that's just ridiculous. Not sure if I can hold out much longer.
Well, it's bedtime here. I should know better than to check my computer while I'm doing something.
Maypole, it will be interesting to see your answers. What is a Heroes marathon? :)
~*
Snos, it would be Monterey Jack. I can eat that stuff endlessly and never get sick of it.
~*
Snos, ahhh. Five Precepts. Got you. I will definitely try to get to that.
~*
Jen, citrus. Ouch! It will all peel the paint off a tank, won't it? In that regard, I'm not sure how grapefruit is different.
How is it different? :)
~*
Flutter, not to get too academic.. so here's my short answer:
Calvinism at the root of north American cultural thought.
In my tradition, we are taught to value all life, including our own.
What do you think about that idea? Sound plausible?
~*
It's very hot here today, and I have just put a lasagna in the over for tomorrow's supper (we'll be busy and will have company). So, I've just headed up to the puter where I am listening to an exhibition hockey game over the internet. Only in Canada, eh? Tomorrow we;ll drive into the country (about an hour) to go to a maple syrup place.
I hated book reports in school, even though I always loved to read.
Any other ideas? I'm begging here.
OK, I have answered your questions. Ack. Hereos is a television show that was on last year. We are watching it on DVD - didn't watch it when it aired but so many friends recommended it to us that we are now watching it in several "Hereos Marathon" evenings (watching many episodes a night)
I've been struggling with why on earth I so want to post something but nothing great comes to mind because I get pretty tired of the "divorced yoga teacher" chestnut and am ready for another motif that suits me better. I bore the snot out of myself. Oh, how is grapefruit different? I think it can interfere with some heart medications... no, seriously.
Also, it rolls around in my head from time to time that no culture is perfect. Western culture is not the root of all evil, and Eastern culture is not 100% pristine. I think we have to know our paths, ourselves, what is right, and behave accordingly.
And, dude, did you know that Jello Pudding Pops are back? They were gone for so long and now they're back.
How's that for saying somethings..?
Chani has nothing to say? LOL! You always have something on your mind. I'm the one who draws a blank on a regular basis. I haven't posted since Wednesday!
Here's something: I watched a movie on TV from start to finish tonight. Could be the first time I did that in more than two years.
I'm not sure we have that cheese here. :( I'll keep an eye out!
Grapefruit is one of my favourite essential oils. It is also one of the cheaper ones, which makes it good to use often. I've put a few drops in right now. It smells wonderful.
Grapefruit Oil
It is good for many things but a couple ya'all might not be aware of - eases water retention, depression, headache, performance stress, jet lag, PMS, alcohol and drug withdrawal.
So I think there's a few Hollywood starlets who could do with some grapefruit oil just for the last one alone! ;)

Let me add a second word, one that came to me this morning as I rose determined to go back to one of my original themes. (See http://cecilieaux.blogspot.com/) This may seem like shameless self-promotion but it's not. I think I am filling some of that emptiness and ennui that has overtaken Chani, as it often does to all of us.
Chani, does what I am saying mesh with where you are, not necessarily in the moment, but when you go shopping for life with that Buddhist card?
Pudding pops are back?
PSYCH!
De, it probably has something to do with the weird weather in various parts of the country where they're grown. On the other hand, it's probably really because the growers are greedy. The weather bit just sounds better. :)
~*
Anvil, I would have forsaken Weight Watchers for some of that lasagna!
~*
Susan, I'm not sure. I can't even think of anything to blog about here. LOL And it's Saturday morning. My head is still empty.
~*
Maypole, now that you mention it, I have seen some ads for it. I'm almost afraid to watch it. What's your opinion? Is it good watching?
~*
Liv, I wonder if we all go through these blogging lags occasionally. I'm never certain what to write about at any given times. I sort of notice the trends.. when I write something that no one cares about.. or when I write something that's liked.. and choose accordingly. Sometimes though, there's just nothing new.
Eastern/Western... true.. neither are without flaws.
We all just pick our poison I guess. LOL
I don't know what pudding pops are. :)
~*
Mary, it's not that I don't have anything on my mind.. as much as it's not bloggable. Sometimes there may be things swimming around in the empty cavity I call my head.. but it's too long, too complicated, too potentially controversial.. you know.. too too for blogs.
I can't believe I watched "The Unit" last night. Good grief! The CIA misused and lied to a special forces unit in the military. That was supposed to shock us. Huh? Lying and the Central Intelligence Agency?
Um. Hardly a surprise!
My fingertips feel dirty for having typed that name! LOL
~*
Snos, I think it's a fairly typical white cheddar...
~*
Cecilieaux, yes.. I would say that's generally true. Naturally, I screw up now and then but it's consistent with my overall objective.
~*
SM, what's up with the pudding pops? :)
~*
~Chani
First, let me say that I think this was a pretty good idea. After reading down through your comments, it seems everyone's had fun with it.
I get very nostalgic in the fall, more so than at any other time of year and I'm not sure why, it's my favorite season.
Pam, I don't seem to be a very nostalgic person... but I sure do love autumn. Autumn and spring. Probably just some weird indication that I don't like extremes.
The thing is that where you live, the evidence of changing seasons would be so obvious. In California, the changes are rather muted.
:)
I'm fuming about our health insurance. We pay over $600 a month for family coverage through my husband's job (my coverage is worse, believe it or not). Our co-pays are ridiculous. And we just got a bill for Tessa's CT scan and do you know how much of it *we* owe? $900!
Good god. What is with healthcare coverage and associated expenses?
Aliki, that is nuts! Of course, I support universal healthcare. Whenever profit is put ahead of human well-being, you end up with the situation you mention.
HMOs were probably the worst thing to ever come along.
What say you?
~Ch
Aliki, as far as national healthcare, I forgot to mention this:
I noticed on the news that candidates are discussing national health care.
France has the best national health care system in the world, but the US is so arrogant, it would rather re-invent the wheel instead of asking their advice. The same goes for solving the problem in New Orleans. Why not look at the Netherlands and implement a system like they have?
You know, this is why I suspect there will be no solution.. and if a faux solution comes along, it will not help American citizens. It will hurt them.
~Ch
my son just won't sleep tonight. or ever. he is so terribly afraid of the dark and has three lights on which keep him up! then he wakes several times in the night scared and crying. i am SO exhausted, but sad for him, too. i need some sleep.
are pudding pops really back!?!?!
Hey! This IS a good idea. Especially since I don't have anything good to blog about either and I've been too slow &lazy to pass on my Nice Award that heart gave me :o)
Let's see...what do I have:
One of my nephews turned 12 today. One hour ago I pigged out big time on a barbecue pork sandwich with fries and corn fritters then decided to do a mud masque on my face. See why I don't have anything to blog about....maybe tomorrow something exciting will happen.
Pudding pops? Say it isn't so--I love those things!
One of the things I learned, working with people as their coach and therapist, is that boring nothingness is really and truly somethingness. I'd encourage you to focus on the boring nothingness and take a walk. Track your mind and your mind's thoughts. My guess is that something is generating, growing, germinating, inside - it only needs a little attention and exercise to break ground.
I can't imagine you bored with your own thoughts. You always seem to have some interesting things to say. Although I know what you mean...lots has been happening here, but I just haven't been able to get it down.
1) As I posted yesterday -- I really cannot see a downside to taxing tobacco more to pay for more children's health insurance. I am still trying to figure out how Bush can see one.
2)I feel awful for Christine and her son. For what it's worth, I posted on fear of the dark a few months ago
http://wheelsonthebus.wordpress.com/2007/06/14/things-that-go-bump-in-the-night/
3) Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie Frozen Yogurt is so much better with a scoop of natural peanut butter on top. But, then, so are most things.
4) I wish I had never bought into the hype and started shaving my legs. Now that I do, I cannot imagine ever stopping.
Oh Emily!
Switch to waxing! ;) Trust me, it is 100% better and not as painful as everyone claims.. :) get it done in a salon, it's usually less than $20AUS for me to have it done, it lasts 6-8 weeks, and the more you wax the less hairs grow back.
Cheers!

Christine, check your email. I had a few thoughts about your son's sleeping. :)
~*
MsPea, your day sounds like my yesterday. I lounged around most of the day, ate too much and read cheesy books. Nothing to blog about at all. Heck, I had to check the news this morning to get some ideas.
~*
Aliki, I guess I'll have to try them. Something tells me they're not on the Weight Watchers plan though. :)
~*
Claudia, I agree. Completely. I'm sure something's ruminating like a background script but it hasn't come to the surface yet.
~*
Carla, I could over-analyze a burp. My mind is sometimes *too* active and I look forward to times like this when there's really nothing consuming me.
~*
Emily, wait until you're older. You won't have to shave them anymore. :)
~*
Snos, waxing? Ouch! Why? What's the matter with a little leg hair? It never hurt anyone as far as I know.
Hot wax? YOUCH! :)
~*
~Chani
Pudding pops aren't too bad calorie wise.... they are small, and are just frozen Jello pudding. Fantastic!! AND the box has vanilla, chocolate, and chocolate/vanilla swirl. AND I have only seen them at Wal-hell.
Emily, wax for goodness' sake. Or do the laser removal. Both have pretty good results. Waxing is better I think. I'm addicted to body hair removal, so I'm admittedly a little gung ho, but honestly, the results are magnificent!
Yeah, but my issue is more fundamental. My issue is that I ever considered it necessary to remove my body hair.
I have waxed everything except legs (including armpits), but my hair grows fast (ironic, given how thin the hair on my head is). I spend about 1 week without hair and then 3 weeks waiting for it to be long enough to wax again. I finally bought a swimsuit that does not require waxing.
And now you know more about me than you ever wanted to.
Liv, I will definitely try them.. especially if they are not too bad calorie-wise. (I say this as I know darned well how much I pigged out yesterday. Yikes! It's going to take me a week to make up for it. :)
~*
Emily, I feel basically the same way. Underarm hair removal makes sense to me.. for men and women both.. but I have a fundamental objection to the idea that women should be hairless... like infants.
Not to be disgusting.. but that's what it makes me think about.. that we're supposed to shave ourselves so that men will... well.. I'm sure you get the point.
When men are willing to remove all of their body hair, I'll consider removing mine. :)
