Wellness Wednesday: Improve the Silence....

Before you speak, ask yourself, is it kind, is it necessary, is it true, does it improve on the silence?

can anything improve silence?

Ahhhhhh. Yes. May we all remember this bit of wisdom. I think I'll print it out and post it in my office at work.

Blessings

Ouch. Almost too much truth and wisdom for a big mouth like me...
I feel like I need to tattoo that question on the inside of my hand.

A lovely thought, thank you!

This one is taped up many places in my home, because I need the reminder that often.

as a talker, i should perhaps engrave these words on my heart

Sai Baba is one of my heroes.

If everyone met all of these conditions before speaking, it would be a much quieter world.

Hi Chani,

I've been away too long :o/

I like the quote so much, I printed it out to post in my office where I hope others will notice the wisdom in it.

Good post,

Mary

IMHO, it very rarely improves on the silence. :)

Hi Chani,
Great food for thought here. Silence really is golden, isn't it?

I will think before I speak from now on.
(I hope I remember that.)

silence is beautiful, isn't it?

I would like to tattoo that on the insides of my eyelids---or at least post it in a prominent spot in my kitchen!

Wise words. Definitely something to ponder. Thank you.

I think I may tatoo this to my forehead, where my children will be able to see it. Always.

I'm so grateful to you for posting this! It used to be something my sister had on her fridge, and I've been trying to remember it. They are important words.

what a great saying...if more people subscribed to this philosophy the world would be a better place.

this was a great quote--how often do any of actually "listen" to the silence around us?

Running on empty

Been posting about the use of silence within writing all week.

What a fantastic quote. I've been working on that one for decades. I do think I've made some progress, as I can remember a time when I was quite smitten with the sound of my own voice. Ha! Then I started an experiment of keeping a lot of my toughts un-uttered. That was the start of one of the most powerful shifts of my life. Nowadays I often find myself at work wishing I hadn't said anything. I am quiet, but I need to be quieter. There is some negativity that can only turn around if I hold it lovingly instead of commenting.

A most excellent reminder. I have been thinking of the phrase "tell the truth, tell the truth, tell the truth" ever since I read it on a dedication page a few months ago.

Is it necessary? Is it true?

Powerful questions. (The last one, too!)
