Sacred Life Sunday

He who experiences the unity of life sees his own Self in all beings, and all beings in his own Self, and looks on everything with an impartial eye. - Buddha

Staying focused on the good things we have to offer the world makes a big difference. And then offering them makes an even bigger difference. I'm not sold on the whole "self empowerment" movement because that brings us off-balance as much as going the other way... but thinking of ourselves positively (the same way we would any other friend) and then putting those good things into action is truly "kreng jai" (kindness).

Ego is like a security blanket. Sooner or late, we grow out of our need for it.

Thank you.

Very nice thoughts for a Sunday afternoon. I like the idea of the ego akin to a security blanket.

I think there's a bit more to this though, I'm afraid. The part that we can't control. Even though we might have good intentions sometimes they're perceived in the opposite way. Well, at least that's how this afternoon kinda presented itself.

Damned confusing, this life sometimes is.

It was so nice to see you today...
I was thinking of you on Saturday wondering what it was that you had decided to do :)
Of course supporting whatever decisions you so choose to make in this complex yet wonderful life.
Sacred life Sunday indeed!

A resounding Amen to this beautiful statement...

What we focus on expands... What we nourish grows...

So let it be love..

Peace and love my friend, M

I agree that ego is a security blanket which should be outgrown, but that is only possible when there is something to replace it.

We all need to work on bringing our lives into balance because the gratification of doing good works is far greater than feeding our ego can provide.

Hi Chani,
Thank you for visiting my blog.
You are welcome any time ;)
You have some very wise words.

If each of us brings something positive to his neighbor, coworkers or even a stranger,we are all stronger in the long run.

Peace to you.

These words are of great comfort to me as I continue to visit my mother daily.

I'm thinking about these words as I struggle with thinking dark thoughts about myself.

Thank you for this piece of Sunday (and everyday) wisdom, Chani. Would that I could be successful in always viewing the world with an 'impartial eye.' But I am trying.

Thank you for visiting my blog!
The quote you share is wonderful.
We are called to see that which we hold in common in one another-- and we share a lot in common!
Blessings....

truer words were never spoken! I believe the ego is but a fascade created by us based on our experiences and how we perceive others perceive us. It is false and is self-centered. Our true selves are the inner spark of God which calls us to love, compassion, tolerance, community etc. Thanks for the beautiful quote chani...How did you get your lovely signature? I would sure like to do that! LOL...

Yup. Although I'm not sure it's always a one-time deal. I think we can sometimes let go of ego, and then re-attach, and let go again. Over and over.
